  • July 15, 2020 - The play structures in the municipal parks will be open to the public as of Friday, July 17, 2020. Users must maintain physical distancing of two metres away from others outside of their direct household or social circle. It is strongly recommended to practise sanitary measures before, during and after the use of play structures.
  • July 15, 2020 - Baseball Parks - Return to play is permitted as of Friday, July 17, 2020, with certain restrictions. Please contact the Recreation Coordinator by email for more information.
  • July 2, 2020 - Closure of Michel Malboeuf Tennis Court - Effective from Friday, July 3 to Saturday, July 4th 2020. This closure is for crack repairs on the court, in preparation for court resurfacing in the coming weeks.
  • June 26, 2020 - Russell Skate Park Closure - The Skate Park in Russell will be closed from June 30 until July 3 for reconfiguration of the equipment and the removal of the half-pipe, which was deemed unsafe for use at this time. We are looking at replacing this piece of equipment in the future. Thank you for your cooperation.
  • June 16, 2020 - Closure of Michel Malboeuf Tennis Court - Effective from Thursday, June 18, to Saturday, June 20, 2020. This closure is for preparations for resurfacing of the tennis court. We thank you for your cooperation.
  • June 11, 2020 - The Splash Pad at Yahoo Park (2 Marcel St. in Embrun) will be open to the public as of Friday, June 12, 2020. Daily operating hours are from 9 am to 8 pm. In order to respect the province of Ontario's orders, we are asking users to maintain physical distancing of two metres away from other outside of their direct household, and to avoid gatherings of more than 10 people.
  • May 19, 2020 - Following an amendment to Ontario Regulation 104/20 made under the Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act, the following amenities are permitted to open as of Tuesday, May 19, 2020:
    • Baseball diamonds
    • Tennis & pickleball courts
    • Basketball courts
    • Skate parks
    • Off-leash dog areas
    • Outdoor picnic sites, benches and shelters in park and recreational areas.
    Social distancing and gathering restrictions are still in effect. Outdoor playgrounds, play structures and other equipment are to remain closed.
  • May 18, 2020 - The municipal skateboard parks will be opened to residents as of Tuesday, May 19. Social distancing and gathering restrictions are still in effect.
  • May 15, 2020 - The municipal tennis courts will be opened to residents as of Tuesday, May 19. No lessons will be permitted. Social distancing and gathering restrictions are still in effect.
  • May 14, 2020 - Municipal Parks limited usage will be in effect as of Saturday, May 16, 2020.
    • Residents will be allowed to (while respecting the 2-metre distance):
      • Gatherings of 5 persons.
      • Walk or run.
      • Playing catch, kicking a soccer ball, or throwing a football.
      • Flying a kite.
      • Sitting on a blanket, grass or lawn chair.
      • Exercising and stretching on a yoga mat, but not in a class.
      • Walk your dog while respecting existing dogs-in-park designations.
    • Residents will not be allowed to:
      • Playing on play structures, swings, benches and other park equipment.
      • Playing basketball on the basketball court or tennis on the tennis court.
      • Using their local skateboard park.
      • Using baseball, soccer and football fields for play or practice.
  • April 20, 2020 - South Nation Conservation confirms that the following Conservation Area remain open and maintained for passive recreation (walkthrough access only): J. Henry Tweed Conservation Area (Russell), W.E. Burton Conservation Area (Russell) and Nokomis Park (Limoges). For more information, visit their website.
  • March 23, 2020 - In order to minimize the spread of COVID-19, our staff have taped-off our play structures and skateboard parks. Our parks are still closed for the winter season, but we are taking this extra precaution to keep children off all play equipment during the outbreak.
  • December 23, 2019 - For the security of our residents, all municipal parks with a play structure are now closed for the winter. See you in the spring!
  • December 18, 2019 - The Richelieu Park play structure is now completed. Since all municipal parks are closed during the winter months, we hope to see all our young residents play in the new park in the spring!
