Cindy Saucier, Councillor

My husband Mike and I decided to move our family to Russell to raise our 3 sons in a caring community. We wanted a community to raise our kids where they could bike and play safely and still feel like the country but with friends close by.
Because the environment is so important to me, I’ve sat on various committees for the past 20 years including the Environmental Advisory Committee as well as the sub-committee which was looking at the proposed dump for this area. I also sit on the South Nation Conservation Communication Committee and am an educational and forestry steward with SNC.

What motivated you to become a municipal councillor?
I’ve worked with the past five Mayors on various issues and this involvement and commitment led to my desire to run in the municipal election as well as encouragement from family and friends As a Councillor, I sat on a number of committees which included the Russell Library board, the Russell Police Village, the Planning Committee, the Russell Historical Society and the Environmental Advisory Committee.

What do you do for fun?
My interests vary but I enjoy painting, writing and reading. I also enjoy fitness, walking, the Dome, Zumba and Yoga. I am an avid camper. I take great pride in being the local Russell-Embrun organizer for the Terry Fox run for cancer research. Other hobbies include volunteering with the Russell District Horticultural Society, the Russell Historical Society, "Trees for Tomorrow" and community trivia nights.
